#Glasgow2014 #craftbomb INSTALLED

Mount Florida is looking vibrant and colourful and it’s all thanks to over 280 children and adults who have contributed to the project over the last 3 months. We have had an amazing and inspiring 2 days installing. Lots of lovely feedback, including a lady from Vanuatu, now living in Glasgow, who found a photo on Facebook and googled Mount Florida to find it before she came to visit it. She managed to meet Sarah who made the work! Here’s the photo

The other unexpected lovely enjoyment about the installation was seeing people linger in Letherby Triangle and use it. Spending some time in there has given us ideas for the future and it was great to see people hanging out there. The sun helped with installation and made it a brilliant couple of days and really enjoyed chatting to people who stopped by to thank us for the project and comment on the work. There are loads of photos on flickr so pop over to our page there to see them.

If you would like to know more about the project, scroll down through the previous blog posts, or visit the project page or down load the press release here SCATTERCRAFT PRESS RELEASE JULY 2014

We hope you enjoy seeing the craftbomb as much as we have had making it!

Some photos from the festive evening on the 4 December . Thanks to everyone who helped on the day, turned up on the evening and a big thanks to the choir for such cheery singing. We also welcomed the Lord Provost and other councillors to the event to meet the neighbours of Mount Florida.

Through events like this one we hope to increase awareness of this sadly neglected space and of the School’s plans to regenerate and use the space productively as an asset for the pupils and the local community.

Due to its location, Mount Florida Primary School has very limited outdoor space for the pupils to use.

Our Parent Partnership, in conjunction with local and national government bodies, is looking at how the space around the School could be best used to enhance the learning experience of children from this community. Our aim is to regenerate and improve these spaces in a way that will also benefit the wider community in the long term.

We’d like to see the Letherby Triangle becoming a little oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle around us and hope this event is just the beginning.

#allthebells @Mount Florida Primary School

cheese scones

It was an early start this morning to make a batch of scones for the celebrations for Martin Creed’s ‘All the Bells’.

The radio was set to Chris Evans on Radio 2 & the original school bell was rung at 08:12. The children then went off ringing their bells to the school gate.

Elaine from STV was there to record it all and here is her blog – with SOUND!!!! and pictures. Elsewhere in Glasgow – GoMA rang its bell and knocked the dust off it.

Here’s a picture of the school bell which marked the beginning of All the Bells in Mount Florida Primary.

Thanks to Frances and Nicola & all the children and parents in Mount Florida Out of School Project.
